Upcoming 'Presentation of Learning' event

So... in exactly a week's time from today (on Fri 18th Nov, 2016), we have an event at uni where we are to present our project... Unfortunately I am unable to attend the 'Presentation of Learning' event simply because it's the night right before my wedding.

However, it doesn't end there... Just because I'm not attending, it doesn't mean that I won't be able to present. In fact, I am presenting through a short video which Natalie filmed (will be screened at the event) and right now, also presenting through this current blog to go into further details which otherwise are not evident in the video.

These are a few points that I would've referred to if I was available to present in person along with Natalie:

  • Introduce myself

  • Speak about the aim of the project / what it's about

  • to learn from inspiring conductors and be encouraged to rethink the way we teach or approach certain problems in education; to be motivated and passionate about what we do especially if we have love for it, without giving up. And the only way to address this was through a documentary...

  • Explain the processes taken to produce this documentary

  • Meeting conductors for the first time to make the aim of our project clear to them

  • Forming our questions so we can start interviewing.

  • Filming / interviewing - with a professional Canon camera

  • Trimming - through Windows Movie Maker; selecting our favourite time frames from the original recorded clip.

  • We were even devastated to hear that our videos were not in high-resolution (they were exported for 'computer use' only and thus dimensions were much smaller) after giving so much effort for it.

  • We learnt from our mistake, and despite complaining and being so stressed at the start, we trimmed again using Movie Maker, this time saving every Movie Maker trim we made (as a project) and also exporting it for a High Definition Display (so bigger dimensions now).

  • Editing - through Screenflow

  • Adding text, audio, our already trimmed clips and transitions

  • Fixing up sound and removing heaps of background noise (within the clip) as much as possible.

  • Adding extra clips on top of the voice of conductor being interviewed...so clips from rehearsals, concerts, etc...

  • Playing with the volume / post-gain and opacity levels.

  • Publishing

  • Exporting our final project and publishing it onto YouTube.

  • How much of an enjoyable experience it has been to be exposed to all the technology out there for the purpose of this project. Totally a great opportunity and experience even if it seemed exhausting or as though it was never to be finished.

And yea, I think that's about it. Then we would let our guests watch the screening of our documentary (if there's enough time given for us to present as currently our documentary goes for 29 minutes, while we only have 10 minutes up there)... However, I do hope that more time is given for Nat to screen it all, otherwise if it's only 10 mins, then possibly just screening the first 3-5 mins of the documentary??? That will be clarified by Natalie on the day I guess...
