In the tech room now :) what a wonderful way to begin - the uses of technology and resources in a classroom setting.

Music is a subject to teach that has its own form of notation.

Music can be so much better through sound or forms of notation.

How can I better communicate content / ideas without using PowerPoint (which is typically filled with bullet points and text??

When developing a PowerPoint presentation, think about how you will use the visual aspect to represent the text in order for your students to remain engaged. What you present could be limited. Showing diagrams, pictures, scores, audio, and addressing that with spoken words.

This is the world / culture / paradigm our children now live in. There is not one kid who doesn't have a social account. Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter have been the absolute oxygen for communicating. We need to help our kids learn how to use it.

TODAY'S LECTURE - Issue of 1-to-1 - wk 4B

  • 1-to-1 means one device to one child.

  • Much more moveable feast - asking students to get a particular type of laptop or any accepted device and going beyond that to what we call BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).

BaB = Bring a Browser

What does BaB mean for music education?

Soundtrap

  • Have up to 4 files free

Soundtrap, Soundation, and Audiotool are very useful recording programs that you can use online.

Software content analyis - need a whole load of computers running a whole load of different operating systems, class compliant audio midi (USB audio, microphones and MIDI keyboard that you can supposedly connect to any old device).
