Today we looked at essential digital tools to use for education purposes. It's all about format which is most suitable to how you want to deliver your content to your students online - simply about how not to kill them with PowerPoints.
Understanding different image, video and audio formats
ScreenFlow is good or recording videos - good use for making tutorials.
James demonstrated how to make a project using ScreenFlow - he recorded a video of himself teaching how to use loops (in Garageaband) from a year 8 student's work. Things he mentioned in his recording include:
Add region to loop library
put them in a way that is easy to find them later on
Search your library by clicking on 'Go' then while pressing 'command', click on 'library'.
Creating quality and legal resources
We can create our own notation files and should be sure of when we are in copyright safe or not in copyright safe.
Images
Searching for a guitar for example on Google images.
It's important to click on the picture and read the website's terms and conditions about copyright.
You can click on 'Search tools' and select 'Labeled for noncommercial reuse' (educational use)
Make sure you reference or accredit who took the picture and where you got it from.

Creating interactive digital media for learning with iBooks Author
use an empty book - Never forget to include Book Title.
Inspector on the right hand side - keep open for most of the time so you can write down author and book title.

Click on 'Widgets' then down to 'Review' to create multiple choice quizzes for your students.
